EYE CAMPS



Cause:

Severe loss of vision is a problem faced by most elderly people due to age related factors. One of the most common vision problems in elders above age 65 is due to cataract which can be corrected by surgery. It becomes a problem when the vision loss due to cataract affects normal daily activities. This in turn leads to a limitation in their communication with the outside world. Corrective measures with visual correction surgery can rectify these problems.


Measures:

Sparking lives in partnership with DKSHA has teamed up in its effort to conduct eye camps to diagnose visual imperfections in elderly citizens. A team of doctors assists in testing and diagnosing such visual problems. If needed, this team further suggests the appropriate surgery and prescribes the correct medication.A total of 268 people were tested and 104 underwent treatment for cataracts.
